GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Cory Karagjozi roped a walk-off, pinch-hit single in the opener before classmate Eric Hungerford tossed a six-hit complete game and senior Pat Cody went 4-for-4 in the nightcap as the Gettysburg College baseball team closed its Centennial Conference (CC) schedule with a sweep of Haverford College Saturday afternoon at Kirchhoff Field.

The Bullets (27-11, 13-5 CC), who have now won 12 of their last 13 games, finish in second place in the Centennial Conference standings. They will host Haverford again on Friday in a CC first-round playoff game starting at 3 p.m.

Junior Al Posch hit safely in both games for Gettysburg to push hit hitting streak to 23 games.

Cody, who had his 23-game hitting streak snapped on Friday at McDaniel, went 5-for-8 over the doubleheader. Junior Nate Simon also went 5-for-8 while Posch hit 4-for-9 with a pair of doubles.

Junior Drew Felsenthal worked a nine-hit complete game in the dramatic opener in which the Bullets rallied after surrendering the lead in the ninth. Gettysburg pitchers have thrown seven straight complete games.

Gettysburg has now won the second-most games in program history. Only the 1988 team, which finished 28-10, posted more victories.

The Bullets four seniors were honored in a brief ceremony before the game, and between games a "Project ALS Day" ceremony was held as the baseball team's "Take ALS Yard" efforts were recognized.

In the opener, Gettysburg spotted Felsenthal a 1-0 lead in the first inning, when Posch doubled and was singled home by junior Tommy LeNoir. Haverford (26-9, 11-7 CC) tied it in the fourth, when Casey Fox scored on a groundout after leading off with a triple.

Felsenthal (6-1) would retire 10 of the next 11 batters after Fox's triple before running into trouble in the seventh. Matt Liscovitz and Nick Ott hit back-to-back singles, but the Bullets answered with a 4-6-3 inning-ending double play.

Gettysburg went in front 3-1 after plating two runs in the bottom of the frame. Cody singled leading off before Simon followed up with a double, putting runners on second and third. Junior Ben Roessle then drew a walk to chase starter Kyle Waney.

Sophomore Scott Zanghellini drove in a run with an infield single off reliever Clay Bloszies before a wild pitch scored Simon.

Felsenthal worked a three-up, three-down eighth before the Fords rallied in the ninth. Justin Coulter singled with one out before Alex Hudak reached on an error. Liscovitz singled to load the bases, and after Ott struck out, George Hatamiya roped a two-out single tie it. William Bannard then put Haverford in front 4-3 with a single before Felsenthal struck out the final batter of the inning.

Simon kicked off Gettysburg's rally in the bottom of the inning with a single. Roessle bunted him to second before Zanghellini reached on another infield single. Junior Patrick O'Grady drove home Simon with a sacrifice fly, and classmate Cam MacDonald walked to put runners on first and second.

Karagjozi was then called on to pinch hit, and he smoked an 0-1 pitch into the left-center gap to score Zanghellini. It was the second walk-off victory of the year for the Bullets; Simon gave the Bullets a 4-3 win over Washington College with a game-ending, 10th-inning single on April 13.

Felsenthal finished with seven strikeouts and did not walk a batter. Bloszies (2-1) was charged with the loss.

Junior Austin Davis, Posch, Simon, and Zanghellini all finished with two hits.

Gettysburg also jumped to an early lead in the nightcap, putting up a three-spot in the first against starter Brett Cohen. Davis led off with a walk before LeNoir was hit with a pitch. Cody and Simon each singled home a run while a third scored on an outfield error.

The Fords pushed across a run in the second but the Bullets responded with a tally  in the bottom of the inning. Posch led off with a single and scored three batters later on a single by Simon to make it 3-1.

Gettysburg's lead reached 6-1 after a two-run third against reliever Max Gerard. Zanghellini singled to lead off before O'Grady was hit by a pitch. Then with two outs, Posch scored both runners with a single into right-center gap.

Hungerford (7-1) cruised through the middle innings, allowing just one hit from the third through the eighth. Coulter led off the ninth with a homer to left, and the Fords went on to lead the bases with one out following two singles and a hit batsman. But Hungerford would get a lineout to left and a pop-out to first to end it.

Hungerford struck out seven and walked three. His seven wins are the most by a Bullet pitcher since Chris Liegel '09 tied the school record with nine in 2007.

Along with Cody's 4-for-4 showing, Simon finished 3-for-4 while Posch also collected a pair of hits.
