SHERMAN, Texas — The Occidental College baseball team made it a perfect 4-0 this weekend at Austin College, picking up two more wins in Texas on Sunday.

Game 1: Occidental 5, Austin College 3

Freshman lefty CJ Maruyama (Danville) picked up his first career win, in his first career start, going five innings, with just two hits and an earned run charged against him, in a 5-3 win over Austin College in Game 1 on Sunday.

The Tigers led through all seven innings, though the game never felt comfortably in hand.

Scott Hong (Los Angeles), the SCIAC's leader in saves last season, shut the door on the Roos with three strikeouts in the seventh.

Jacob Lee (Olympia, Wash.) drove in two runs with an RBI double in the sixth that provided some insurance.

Johnathan Brooks (Huntington Beach) went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Tigers.

Game 2: Occidental 11, Austin College 7

A.J. Libunao (Huntington Beach) and Alec Strain (Sacramento) each had RBI doubles during a five-run eighth inning, leading Oxy to a come-from-behind win over the Roos, 11-7, in the last of a four-game stretch.

Oxy led for most of the game until Austin scored a pair of runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh, taking a 7-6 lead.

Then the Tigers got rolling.

Libunao's knock brought home Victor Munoz (La Verne) and Trevor Lecka (Newbury Park), and then Strain brought him home with a shot to right.

Strain and Van Fudge (Corvallis, Ore.) crossed the plate on errors, giving the Tigers an 11-7 lead heading into the ninth.

Strain finished the game 4 for 5 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Brooks went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs.

Oxy has its home opener against La Sierra next Sunday. First game of the doubleheader starts at 11 a.m.
