Giants Reach 30-Win Plateau With 11-2 Victory Over Oneonta State

La Plume, PA – Keystone College's baseball team stretched their winning streak to 11 games heading into this weekend's Colonial States Athletic Conference Championships with an 11-2 victory over Oneonta State University in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at Christy Mathewson Field.  The Giants improve to 30-7 on the season while the Red Dragons fall to 12-25 on the spring.     

Keystone used three straight two-out singles to center to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Tyler Gurman (Bronx, NY/Lehman) and reached on a base hit, advanced to third on a Gabriel Ramirez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Perkiomen School) single, then scored on Gabriel Molina (Bronx, NY/James Monroe)'s base knock up the middle.
 
The Giants doubled their lead in the home half of the second inning when Rick McLaughlin (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) scored on a RBI single by Miquel Castano (Miami, FL/Miami Springs), and Molina hit a two-run single to plate Austin Straub (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) and Gurman to make it a 4-0 contest in the third inning. 
 
Lymbel Guerrero (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical) lead of the Keystone fourth with a single before advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt by Castano before scoring the Giants' fifth run on a single to center by Kevin Catherina (Ridgefield, NJ/St. Mary (Rutherford)).
 
Ramirez opened the bottom of the fifth inning with a double to left field and brought home by Ricky Riscica (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich), who doubled down the right field line.  Guerrero then lifted a two run home run over the left field fence to stretch Keystone's lead to 8-0.
 
Oneonta State got on the board in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI singles by Chris Massaroni and Dylan Stamile to cut the host's lead to 8-2, but Keystone responded in the bottom of the seventh when Castano hit a two-out, three-run double to right center to push Keystone advantage to 11-2.
 
Castano finished the game 2-3 at the plate with four RBIs while Molina added three RBIs on a pair of hits.  Guerrero went 3-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored while Ramirez went 3-4 with two runs scored.
 
Keystone used seven different pitchers in the victory.  Starter Rob Rogers (Islip, NY/Islip) allowed one hit and struck out three over the first two innings before Patrick Robinson (Goshen, NY/Goshen) allowed a hit and a walk to go along with two K's in the next two innings.  Robinson would get credited with the win to improve to 7-1 on the season.  Mike Pembleton (Oakhurst, NJ/Ocean Township), Michael Meszoros (Bridgeport, CT/Bassick), Adam Sosnowski (Dickson City, PA/Mid Valley), Justin Martinez (Bronx, NY/Clifton), and Adam Krebs (Commack, NY/Commack) worked an inning apiece on the Giants' mound at the pitching staff scattered 10 hits and struck out 11 Red Dragon batters on the
day.
 
Massaroni and Chris Orlando had two hits apiece to lead Oneonta State offensively.  Kyle Jordan suffered the loss after allowing eight runs on 13 hits in five innings of work.  Robert Reeder surrendered three runs on four hits in two innings of work while Noah Raspler three a scoreless eighth inning for the Red Dragons.
 
Keystone, the top seed in this year's Colonial States Athletic Conference playoffs, will open up the conference tournament on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. against Centenary College at Bear Stadium in Boyertown, PA.
