Senior shortstop Jon Kinsel hit a three-run homer -- his first college round tripper in 78 varsity games -- and Steve Maher had a complete-game three-hitter as the No. 2-ranked Tommies won Tuesday's baseball DH opener against Concordia-Moorhead, 4-1.

Dylan Thomas and Matt Behounek allowed no earned runs and three hits and struck out 12 as UST won game two, 10-1. Tim Kuzniar had a two-run homer and RBI double, and Tyler Peterson went 3-for-3 to run his hitting streak to 18 games.

St. Thomas (24-4 overall, 12-0 MIAC) extended its home-field win streak to 35 and its season win streak to 16.

In game one, UST loaded the bases in the third inning, Jack Hogan doubled down the line, and beat a throw to third on a bunt by Sam Miller. A walk to Kelvin Stroik loaded the bases. Ben Podobinski made it 1-0 with a sac fly. Kinsel's drive to deep left appeared to be caught by the leaping, retreating leftfielder, but the ball popped up out of his glove and fell over the fence.

Thomas had two hits to lead a six-hit attack.

In game two, Thomas worked six innings and fanned nine. The lone Cobber run came after a two-out dropped third strike and an RBI single.
