Titans lose CCIW title game, will await NCAA selections

The Illinois Wesleyan baseball team will await the NCAA selections announcement on Monday morning to see their postseason fate as they lost to Augustana, 12-1, in Sunday's College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin tournament championship game.

The Titans are 32-12 and would need an at-large berth into the Division III championships with the selections scheduled to be released at 10 a.m. ET.

Augustana (32-9) received the league's automatic bid into the tournament and hosts a regional in Moline, Ill.

The Titans didn't get their first hit until the sixth inning and managed only three in the game. IWU scored its only run in the eighth. Josh Levy led off with a single off the third base bag. Adam Seifert walked and Nick Hahn reached on a fielder's choice that forced Seifert at second and sent Levy to third. Levy then scored on a single down the rightfield line by Harrison Freeland.

Augustana had 23 hits, scored in every inning except the fourth and fifth, and left 16 runner on base.

Dan Truesdale (1-2) was the losing pitcher as he went the first 2 1/3 innings and allowed four runs on eight hits.
