Lodge Homers, But R-MC Falls to Millsaps

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Sophomore Travis Lodge (Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) hit his first career home run, but that was the only run of the game for the Yellow Jackets as Randolph-Macon dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 12 Millsaps at Posey Field Friday afternoon.

Lodge led off the bottom of the first with a long ball to give the Yellow Jackets (0-2) an early 1-0 lead. Lodge reached four times, going 2 for 2 with a pair of walks.

The Majors (1-0) scored four times in the top of the third to take control of the contest.

Sophomore Nicholas Maiolo (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) also had two hits for R-MC. Sophomore Bryan Miltenberger (Midlothian, Va./Cosby) drew two walks for the Yellow Jackets.

Freshman right-hander Nic Phelps (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) pitched three scoreless innings for R-MC with three hits and no walks.

The Yellow Jackets conclude their first road trip of the season with a 2 pm contest against Rhodes on Saturday, Feb. 8.
