Sewanee improves to 5-1 with a 16-8 win at Johnson

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 25, 2014) – Behind an offensive performance that included 21 hits, the Sewanee baseball team improved to 5-1 on the season with a 16-8 win over Johnson University, Tuesday, in Knoxville, Tenn.

Catcher Nate Barnett, who finished 4-for-4 with three RBI, led the Tigers at the plate. Fellow infielder Grant Goodsonalso swung the bat well with four hits while Zack Suttonadded three RBI.

Additionally, Jack Whaley finished with multiple hits.

On the mound, Alex Mockett won his second game this season after he allowed only five hits while striking out three in 6.0 innings of work.

Sewanee will open Southern Athletic Association (SAA) played with a three-game series against Birmingham-Southern, Saturday. The Tigers and Panthers are scheduled to begin at noon at Montgomery Field.
