FOREST GROVE – Linfield turned a two-error second inning into four runs Monday afternoon, which made the difference as the Wildcats scored an 8-3 victory over Pacific in Northwest Conference baseball action at Chuck Bafaro Stadium.

The two defensive miscues allowed the Wildcats to put together a two-out rally, neutralizing a two-run frame for the Boxers in the bottom of the first.  Pacific scored one more run in the bottom of the second, but did not have a hit after the second and only one base runner over the final seven innings.

With the win, No. 1 ranked Linfield improved to 10-1 overall and completed the sweep of the series.  Pacific dropped to 3-5, 0-3 NWC.  Today's game, originally scheduled for Sunday, was moved due to rain.

Linfield opened the game with a two-rally in the first.  Eric Lawson reached on a walk, moved to second on Nick Fisher's sacrifice and scored on Clayton Truex's single to right.

Nathan Suyematsu (So., Tualatin, Ore.) reached on an error to open the home half of the first and advanced to second on Donnie Bradley's (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.) single.  Both runners scored on Walker Olis' (So., Burlington, Wash.) double to right center field.

Chance Laboda opened Linfield's four-run second with a one-out single and Kekoa Kaulukukui reached on the first error of the frame.  Corey VanDomelen loaded the bases with his single to right.  Lawson struck out for the second out of the inning, but Fisher reached on the second error of the frame, allowing Laboda and Kaulukukui to score.  VanDomelen and Fisher then scored on Clayton Truex's single up the left side.

Pacific took one run back in the bottom of the second when Ben Duerr (So., Lebanon, Ore.) walked with two outs and scored on Suyematsu's double to left center field.

Linfield added two runs in the fourth on Fisher's double right center field and Kramer Lindell's single to left.  The Wildcats added one more run in the ninth as Lindell doubled and scored on Ben Andrew's sacrifice fly.

Kyle Treadway (So., Phoenix, Ore.) dropped to 1-2 with the loss, allowing seven runs, three earned, on 11 hits with three walks and four strikeouts in 5.1 innings.  Reliever Colin McCusker (Jr., Olympia, Wash.) had an outstanding effort, allowing one run on three hits and struck out six in 3.2 innings and opened his outing by retiring seven straight.  Aaron Thomassen earned his second win of the season for Linfield, allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits with a walk and seven strikeouts in seven innings.

Lindell led Linfield offensively, going 4 for 5 with a double, a run and a RBI.  Suyematsu, Bradley and Olis had the Boxers' three hits.

Pacific returns to NWC play on Saturday as they begin a three-game series at George Fox.  The doubleheader will begin at 11 a.m.
