LOS ANGELES — The Occidental baseball team had its five-game win streak come to a close on Wednesday afternoon at Anderson Field when the Tigers fell to No. 15 Ithaca 16-5.

The Bombers brought their potent offense with them all the way from upstate New York. In the top of the second inning, Bombers first baseman Colby Gee, who finished 4 for 4 with seven RBI, belted a three-run home run to put Ithaca in front 7-1.

Gee's homer forced the Tigers into a deep hole early, and they were never able to dig their way out. They did push three across the plate in the bottom of the fifth, thanks to left fielder Chris Strain's two-RBI double down the left field line.

Right fielder Scott Ericksen also had a solid day at the plate for the Tigers, going 1 for 2 with 2 RBI.

But Ithaca proved to have too much offense, tallying 24 hits as a team and forcing the Tigers to use eight different pitchers on the day. Three pitchers —relievers Trevor LeckaTyler Steimel and Alec Strain — tossed scoreless innings in their appearances on the mound or the Tigers.

Bombers center fielder Luke Stark, designated hitter Brian Burns and right fielder Cameron Oathout each had three hits for Ithaca.

After taking a break from SCIAC play to take on Drew and Ithaca this past week, the Tigers will return to conference action on Friday at Anderson Field against Cal Lutheran. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
