Olis Hits, Treadway Pitches Boxers To Series Finale Victory

FOREST GROVE – Walker Olis (So., Burlington, Wash.) came up with another big hitting performance and Kyle Treadway (Jr., Phoenix, Ore.) was masterful on the mound as Pacific concluded their three-game series with Lewis & Clark with a 12-2 win over the Pioneers in Northwest Conference baseball action at Chuck Bafaro Stadium.
 
Olis went 4 for 5 in the game and three RBIs, including a two-run double that capped the Boxers' five-run fourth inning.  Treadway, meanwhile, threw eight strong innings to improve to 2-2 on the season as he allowed two runs, one earned, on seven hits with six strikeouts.
 
Nathan Suyematsu (So., Tualatin, Ore.) also went 3 for 4 with three runs, two RBIs and a double.  The win improved Pacific to 5-9, 2-7 NWC, while Lewis & Clark dropped to 5-8-1, 2-4 NWC.
 
Lewis & Clark opened scoring in the top of the first as Bradley Lezak doubled to lead off the game and scored on Andrew Traver's ground out.  The Boxers responded with a four-run bottom of the first that began with Suyematsu led off with a double to left center field.  Nick Garrett (So., San Diego, Calif.) hit a sacrifice fly to score Suyematsu and Matt Hopp (Jr., Portland, Ore.) stole third and scored when the throw on the double steal attempt went wide of the second base bag.
 
Donnie Bradley (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.) was hit by a pitch and Justin Strayer (So., Ventura, Calif.) reached on a walk.  Bradley scored on Grant Gabriel's (Sr., Honolulu, Hawaii) single and Stayer came home on a double steal.
 
The Pioneers added one run in the third when Ben Beck reached on an error and scored on Eric Hyun's ground out.  Pacific then put the game away with a five-run fourth.  The first three Pacific runners reached on walks with one out and Suyematsu's single scored both Gabriel and Dan Jaffe (Sr., Las Vegas, Nev.).  Hopp then walk to load the bases again and Olis delivered a two-run single that scored Suyematsu and Duerr.  Hopp later scored on a wild pitch.
 
Pacific added two runs in the sixth on a double by Olis and a Garrett ground out.  The Boxers added one run in the eighth when Grant Rogers (Jr., Clackamas, Ore.) singled to score Ryan Sohn (So., Ventura, Calif.).
 
Aaron Landecker took the loss for the Pioneers, falling to 1-4.  He allowed nine runs on just four hits, walking five and striking out one in 3.1 innings.  Lezak went 3 for 4 to lead Lewis & Clark offensively.
 
Pacific will play a non-conference game at Corban on Tuesday before traveling to Southern California for a weekend series at La Verne.
