FOREST GROVE – A 49-minute rain delay did little to phase Pacific Wednesday night as the Boxers came back to score six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to stun Corban 7-6 in baseball action at Chuck Bafaro Stadium.

Pacific trailed 6-1 after six innings when the contest was stopped for just short of an hour by a rain delay.  After both teams went quietly in the seventh, the Boxers found sudden offense against a cadre of three Corban relief pitches in a two-out, six-run rally.

Donnie Bradley (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.) started the rally when he walked, advanced to second on an error and to third on a wild pitch.  Designated hitter Jimmy Brakebush (So., Portland, Ore.) followed with a walk and Josh Keithly (Fr., Mission Viejo, Calif.) double to left center field.

Justin Strayer (So., Ventura, Calif.) then connected for a single to right center, scoring Keithly and chasing Corban reliever Ryan Morgan from the game.  Rilyn Lewchuk proceeded to walk Fernando Careaga (So., Tucson, Ariz.) before Danny Yazzolino (So., Portland, Ore.) tied the game with a two-run double to left center field.  Anthony Hinkson (Fr., Pasco, Wash.) followed with what proved the game-winning double, scoring Yazzolino from second.

Corban put the tying run on base with two out in the top of the ninth when Davis Alderman doubled to left center field.  Reliever Austin Gallagher (Jr., Lake Oswego, Ore.) then proceeded to strike out Tyler Bennett looking to close the game.

The Warriors (16-14) gained early control when they rattled Pacific starter Nate Montgomery (So., Sherwood, Ore.) for four runs in the third inning.  Scott Dreier opened scoring when his single to left center field scored Ben Straka.  Benjamin Liogon followed with a single to right field to score Daniel Orr.  Corban added two more when Alderman reached on an error which allowed Liogon and Dreier.

Corban added a single run in the fourth when Marc Gallegos tripled to leadoff the inning and scored when Straka reached on an error.  Alderman then tripled in the fifth and scored on Ryan Rosas' single down the left field line.

Pacific (8-11) scored their first run in the sixth inning.  Walker Olis (So., Burlington, Wash.) struck out for the apparent third out of the inning, but a wild pitch allowed Olis to reach first base safely.  He then scored on a double to right field by Brakebush.  It was the last offense before the rain delay.

Gallagher earned his first win of the season in relief, allowing one run on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts in five inning.  Lewchuk, one of seven Corban pitchers to take the mound, took the loss in relief by allowing two runs on two hits and a walk in one-third of an inning.

Nick Garrett (So., San Diego, Calif.) went 2 for 3 to lead the Boxers offensively while Keithly and Yazzolino each had two RBIs.  Alderman went 4 for 5 to lead the Warriors.

After a string of five non-conference games, Pacific returns to Northwest Conference play this weekend.  The Boxers will play a three-game series against Willamette on Saturday and Sunday in Salem.
