New Jersey City Scores Six Runs in Eighth Inning to Defeat Baruch (9-2)

The Gothic Knights from New Jersey City University exploded for six runs in the eighth inning to defeat the visiting Bearcats, 9-2, on Tuesday afternoon in Jersey City, New Jersey.

The Bearcats (6-10) trailed the entire game and fell behind 3-0 after four innings, but slowly battled back with a run in each of the sixth and seventh innings.


Zachary T. Uher, the CUNYAC Player of the Week, kept up his solid play with an RBI single to score Angel Tejedain the sixth inning.

Matthew Ballonehit his first career home run and the team's second of the season to left field to get as close as 3-2 in the seventh inning.

The Gothic Knights (6-8) turned a tight contest into a rout with six runs on five hits in the eighth inning and kept the Bearcats bats quiet in the ninth for the home victory.

Uher and Ballone finished the game with two hits each. Tejada hit a double in the sixth inning that enabled him to eventually score on Uher's RBI single.

The Bearcats will return to action on Thursday with a road contest at St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn. First pitch at MCU Park in Coney Island is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
