GREENSBURG, Pa. – Senior shortstop Andrew Frey (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) was 3-for-5 with four RBI as the No. 21 nationally ranked Case Western Reserve University baseball team picked up a 10-3 victory at the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg on Tuesday at Bobcat Park.

The Spartans improve to 15-4, while the Bobcats drop to 7-8.

Frey hit a pair of doubles, the second of which plated three during a four-run eighth inning. That rally coupled with a three-run fifth was the difference after each team put three on the scoreboard during the first four innings.

Junior Kevin Johnstone (Placentia, Calif./Valencia) picked up the win on the mound to improve to 3-1. In seven innings, he allowed three earned runs on six hits with four strikeouts.

Junior third baseman Andrew Gronski (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) and sophomore designated hitter Noah Sherman (Kensington, Md./Georgetown Preparatory) each homered for the Spartans. Gronski's sixth homer of the year came in the top of the first, and he added an RBI double in the third. Sherman went deep in the fourth and finished 2-for-3.

Frey's first double of the contest opened the scoring in the go-ahead fifth. Sophomore first baseman Zack Tobias (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and junior outfielder Will Meador (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) capped the frame with back-to-back RBI singles.

Matt Germanoski went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in the first for the Bobcats. Matt Kochasic (2-1) took the loss in 4.2 innings pitched for the hosts.

The Spartans are back in action at cross-town rival Baldwin Wallace University tomorrow (Wednesday, April 2) at 4:00 p.m. in Berea. The team then opens a five-game homestand versus BW on Thursday.
