DELEWARE -- Junior Dan Belliveaublasted his fourth homer of the season, as the Ohio Northern baseball team topped Ohio Wesleyan by a 6-5 score on Wednesday afternoon at Littick Field.

The Polar Bears improve to 15-4 on the season, while the Battling Bishops fall to 5-9.

Belliveau finished the game 1-for-3 with 3-RBI's, while junior Brady Foleycollected two hits and also scored two runs.

ONU jumped on the board in the first inning, with Belliveau blasting his homer for a 2-0 lead.

The home run also extended his hitting streak to 20 games.

OWU responded in its half of the first inning by scoring two runs and knotting the game at 2-2.

Northern added a run in the sixth on a RBI groundout by Belliveau and scored another run in the seventh on a passed ball.

The Polar Bears scored two more times in the ninth, to push their lead to 6-2.

Junior Derek Lenardos singled to left and stole second. He then moved to third on a wild pitch and came around to score on an error by the catcher.

Foley followed with a single and a steal of second.

He would advance to third on a wild pitch and score on a RBI single by junior Jack LaMarca.

The Battling Bishops threatened in the ninth inning, loading the bases and getting a double that scored all three runs, cutting ONU's lead to 6-5.

But freshman Casey Mulcahy induced a groundout with the tying run on second base to end the game.

Senior Matt Magni (2-0) went six innings, giving up two runs on five hits and striking out one.

Ohio Northern will return to action on Saturday, when it hosts OAC leader John Carroll in a double header on Saturday, beginning at 1 pm.
