Rams Pick Up Two Wins over Yeshiva

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State baseball team swept Skyline opponent Yeshiva University with wins of 14-0 and 24-0 today. The Rams improved to 12-5, 4-1 in the conference, while the Maccabees dropped to 0-16, 0-11.

In the 14-0 shutout, Farmingdale State was led by freshman second baseman Andrew Karkota (Manorville, N.Y.) who was 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored and 2 RBI, while junior shortstop Anthony Alvino (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) had two hits, two runs scored and 3 RBI. Sophomore first baseman Brendan Sullivan (Plainview, N.Y.) reached base in all four at-bats with two hits and added a run and 2 RBI. Senior right hander Timmy Trimarchi (Hauppauge, N.Y.) earned the win after throwing five scoreless innings allowing only four hits.

Game two featured 24 runs on 21 hits by the Rams. Junior designated hitter Mike Scarlato (Holbrook, N.Y.) was 3-for-5 at the plate with a game-high 4 RBI and two runs scored. Junior rightfielder Michael Marino (Franklin Square, N.Y.) tallied two hits, three runs and 3 RBI while junior catcher Dominick Giammona (Deer Park, N.Y.) was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a pair of runs scored. Freshman pitcher Matt Seelinger (Levittown, N.Y.) improved to 2-0 on the season after throwing five innings without allowing a hit and striking out eight.

Farmingdale State now travels to face Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday, April 5th at Dutchess Stadium at Noon.
