GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College baseball team continued to stay hot offensively, ripping 19 hits and rallying from an early six-run deficit en route to a 17-14 non-conference victory over Penn State-Harrisburg Monday afternoon at Kirchhoff Field.

Every starting position player hit safely for Gettysburg (25-3), which won its 22nd-straight game and captured its 19th in a row at home.

A ferocious wind blowing out to leftfield contributed to a combined 33 hits, including nine of the extra-base variety.

Senior Al Posch finished 3-for-6 with a double, a home run, and four runs scored for the Bullets, who overcame their biggest deficit since topping Penn State-Bradford on March 15, when they trailed 4-0 in the first inning.

Senior Nate Simon and junior Scott Zanghellini each finished 3-for-4 for Gettysburg, which played the final six innings without head coach John Campo, who was ejected from the game. Senior Mike Elisio was 2-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs while senior Tommy LeNoir and junior Mike Kielbasa both went 2-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs.

Junior Brett Harrington tossed 4 2/3 innings in relief to earn the win for Gettysburg, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and no walks while racking up a career-high eight strikeouts.

The Bullets have now scored 53 runs on 58 hits over their last three games.

Penn State-Harrisburg (5-24) was led by Bryan Balshy, who went 3-for-5 with a double, a home run, and five RBIs.

The Nittany Lions (5-24) led 3-1 after one inning of play, then extended their advantage to 7-1 heading into the bottom of the second. It was a 4-1 game when freshman starter Eric Brown was relieved by Harrington (3-0), who struck out his first batter before Balshy clubbed a three-run shot into left to give his team its early 7-1 advantage.

Three Harrisburg errors led to a two-run Gettysburg second, when they pulled to within 7-3. The Lions added an unearned run in the fourth, and Gettysburg was blanked by starter Trent Taber in the third and fourth. However, the Bullets finally broke through midway through the game, scoring 14 runs from the fifth through the seventh.

The Bullets used a six-run fifth to assume a lead they would not give back. Kielbasa drilled  two-run double to make it 8-6 before O'Grady gave Gettysburg its first lead of the day, smoking a double deep into the left-center gap to make it 9-8.

The Orange and Blue scored four in the sixth to make it 13-8 before Harrisburg answered with two in the top of the inning against senior Rob Stalzer. Posch capped Gettysburg's scoring with his two-run homer, lining a two-run over the leftfield fence and marking the third-straight game that Gettysburg has gone deep.

The Lions added four runs in the top of the ninth against freshman Aaron Bezio and O'Grady.

Taber (1-3) was handed the loss, throwing 4 2/3 innings and allowing nine runs (seven earned) on nine hits and one walk.
