@OW_Panthers Baseball Remains Perfect in Conference Play with Mount Saint Vincent Sweep

OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury baseball team continued its undefeated Skyline Conference run Saturday by picking up 7-0 and 6-2 victories over the visiting Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins from Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.  Old Westbury (9-13) improves to 7-0 in conference play while sending Mount Saint Vincent (9-10) to 3-2.   

The Panthers used three straight infield singles to plate home John Angelino and Christian Faust for the games initial run to break the scoring ice in the second inning.  A wild pitch by Dolphin starter Brian Rush scored Brandon Stein followed by Jacob Coners' two-run single to put the Panthers up 5-0 at the end of two.  Tommy Ziegen stroked his second RBI single of the game in the third to push across Kevin Licul for a six run lead.  Jonathan Pagan's RBI double drove in Nick Yip to close the scoring with a 7-0 advantage at the end of six innings. 

Panther starter Tim Ingram (3-2) pitched a solid seven innings of shutout ball to earn his third win of the season, combining with relievers Caleb Olesen and James Wipperman to record Old Westbury's fifth shutout of the season.  Ingram fanned nine batters while allowing three hits and three walks.   

Conners (2-5, RBI), Ziegen (2-4, 2 RBI, R), Stein (2-3, R, SB) and Joey Walsh (2-3, RBI, R) each collected two hits to lead Old Westbury's offense.

Rush (2-3) took the Dolphins' game one loss after lasting just 2.2 innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks.

In the finale, Mount Saint Vincent collected two hits in the opening frame including a Christopher Sideli RBI single for an early 1-0 lead. The Panthers answered back in the bottom of the first with a sacrifice fly by Pagan to score Coners to even the score at one-all. 

In the second, Michael Cardino clubbed a two-run double to put the Panthers out in front with a 3-1 lead. 

Byron White poked a single through the right side to extend Old Westbury's lead to three by scoring Yip in the third inning. 

Ziegen broke the game open in the fifth inning with a two-run single to extend the Panthers' lead to five runs to end starter Tyler Krolikowski's day for Mount Saint Vincent.    

Jason Rivera tallied the Dolphins' second run of the game in the sixth inning with a run scoring single to push Josh Sharpe across home plate to trim the deficit to four runs. 

Arismendy Nunez (3-2) logged six solid innings to record his third victory of the season with a six strikeout performance.  Nunez was charged with two runs on five hits and two walks before Alex DiSanto took over in relief in the seventh inning.    

Cardino (2-3, 2 RBI) and Ziegen (1-3, 2 RBI) paced the Panthers on offense.

Krolikowski (1-2) was tagged with the loss after serving up six runs (five earned) on eight hits and three walks in 4.1 innings of work.  

NYU-POLY FIGHTING JAYS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to the diamond on Sunday (April 6) for a Skyline Conference doubleheader with the NYU-Poly Fighting Jays at 11 a.m. from Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex in Old Westbury, New York.
