NEW YORK, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury baseball team picked up an 11-5 non-conference road win Friday afternoon from the CCNY Beavers from Randall's Island.  Old Westbury improves to 13-18 on the season while sending CCNY's record to 8-9-1.

Old Westbury plated three runs to break the scoring ice in the second inning.  With two out, Tommy Ziegen stroked an RBI single to score Byron White for the initial run.  Joey Walsh drew a bases loaded walk to score Michael Cardino and Jacob Coners' RBI single scored Brandon Stein to cap the second inning scoring.

Coners advanced home from third as Nick Yip was caught stealing second base to score Old Westbury a 4-0 lead in the fifth inning.

CCNY answered back with a big sixth inning off relievers Caleb Olesen and Tyler Kapela to take a 6-5 lead.

Old Westbury regrouped and banged out three runs in the seventh as Ziegen stole home; Coners scored Joey Walsh off an RBI single and then advanced home from throwing error by catcher Mike Smith.

The Panthers scored an unearned run in the eighth and added two more in the ninth off John Angelino's RBI double and a Ziegen two-run single to close out the scoring.

Panther starter Frank DiMaria did not factor into the decision after tossing five scoreless innings of three-hit ball with two strikeouts and no walks.  Kapela (1-0) worked 3.1 innings to earn his first win of the season, striking out three while allowing one run on two hits.

Dilson Paulino (0-1) took CCNY's after allowing three runs (two earned) during the three run seventh inning.

Coners (3-6, 2 RBI, 2 R, SB) and Ziegen (3-5, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R, SB) led the Panthers with three hits apiece while Pagan (2-4, R, SB), Angelino (2-5, RBI, R, 2B) and Walsh (2-3, 2B, RBI, R, SB, 2 BB) each registered two hits.  Cardino (1-4, 2 R, BB) added three of Old Westbury's eight stolen bases on the day.

Smith (2-4, R) and Bobby McDowell (2-3, 2 RBI) led CCNY's offense with multi-hit games.
