Providence, R.I.-Junior designated hitter Dean Beshansky (Cumberland, RI) went 2-for-5 with two RBI as Rhode Island College lost, 9-3, to Salve Regina in the Anchormen's home finale on Tuesday afternoon at Anchormen Field.

Salve Regina (25-12) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third as freshman second baseman Hunter Sleeper (Arlington, MA) led off with a single and sophomore center fielder Ryan Kelly (Waldwick, NJ) followed with a walk. The duo was sacrificed over to second and third and then scored on senior catcher Dominic Di Sano's (Central Falls, RI) double to left field. Senior right fielder Tyler Colby's (Easton, CT) single to right field plated Di Sano to cap the frame's scoring.

The hosts (12-19) got one run back in the bottom of the third as senior center fielder Justin Costa (Cranston, RI) reached on a fielder's choice and sophomore right fielder Matt Foley (Seekonk, MA) walked with two down. Costa stole third and then scored on senior first baseman Justin Rainville's (Cumberland, RI) RBI single to right field.

The Anchormen climbed within one run in the bottom of the sixth when sophomore shortstop Gian Abbruzzese (North Providence, RI) reached on an infield single to shortstop, stole second and scored on Beshansky's double down the right field line.

A pair of singles and a walk allowed the Seahawks to load the bases with two out in the top of the seventh, and a free pass issued to Di Sano allowed Sleeper to trot home with an insurance run to make the score 4-2. RIC caught a break as Kelly was thrown out at the plate on a steal attempt to end the frame.

Haley led off the eighth with a walk and moved over to second on Colby's single to right center. The pair was sacrificed to second and third and Haley scored on freshman designated hitter Cory Blankmeyer's (Centerport, NY) sacrifice fly to center field.

In the ninth, Sleeper reached first after being hit by a pitch, then scored on Kelly's triple down the left field line. Di Sano helped put the game out of reach with an RBI double and later scored on a wild pitch, while Sweenor capped the four-run frame with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the ninth, Costa led off with a single, stole second and scored on Beshansky's RBI single.

SRU freshman starter Garrett Franzoi (Dallas, TX) picked up his first collegiate win (1-0), allowing just one run on four hits, while striking out four, in five innings of work.

RIC junior starter Dylan Cummiskey (Warwick, RI) took the loss (2-4), allowing three runs on four hits, to go along with two strikeouts, in three innings.

Di Sano was the game's offensive star, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored, four RBI, two doubles and a walk. Kelly (2-for-4), Colby (2-for-4), Sweenor (2-for-4) and Sleeper (2-for-4) all had multiple hits. Sleeper scored a game-high three runs.
