Moline, Ill. - DePauw southpaw Jack Peck allowed just a single run in the first and the Tigers scored once each in the sixth and seventh innings on the way to a 2-1 win over top-ranjed Webster in the opening game of the Moline Regional of the NCAA Division III Championship.

DePauw improved to 24-19 and returns to the diamond tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. CDT to face the loser of tonight's game between St. Scholastica and Buena Vista. Webster dropped to 37-6.

The Gorloks' lone run came in the bottom of the first as Corey Lasky led off with a single to right and then stole second. Ryan Hall's grounder advanced Lasky to third and he scored on a passed ball.

The Tigers broke through in the sixth when Michael Hartnagel led off with an infield single and moved to second as Robbie Stein followed with a single. An error on the play allowed Hartnagel to advance to third. Zach Starr drove in Hartnagel on a fielder's choice grounder to third that forced Stein at second.

Webster put runners on first and third with one out in the bottom of the sixth, but J.B. McCallum handled a grounder and threw to Ryan Grippo for the out at second who completed the around-the-horn double play with a toss to Conor Einertson at first.

DePauw's go-ahead run came in the seventh as Brendon Pashia led off with a single and moved to second on Einertson's sacrifice bunt. Pashia advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on Grippo's single to right center. Ryan Allee followed with a single but was out trying to advance to second. The Gorloks retired Grippo on the play by utizlizing the "hidden ball trick."

The Gorloks again threatened in the bottom of the frame as Jeff Kramer started the inning with the team's fourth leadoff single of the game. A sacrifice bunt followed before Grippo leaped to snag a line drive off the bat of Kevin Kojs and throw to second to catch Kramer off the base for another double play.

Peck allowed just a single over the final two innings and the Tigers held on for the win.
Pashia led DePauw with two of its six hits in the game, while Lasky had two of Webster's eight hits.

Peck improved to 5-2 with his third straight win and totaled two strikeouts with no walks. Isaac Behme suffered his first loss of the season as he dropped to 8-1 and struck out seven with just one walk.
