BC baseball beats Emory & Henry, 5-3

ROME, Ga. – Berry College defeated Emory & Henry, 5-3, on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Vikings moved to 4-0 on the year.

BC's Ryan Smith and Hunter White both collected two hits apiece in the game. Doug Heath hurled the final four innings for BC and got the win. He allowed no runs, just three hits and is now 1-0 on the season.

Ben Jernigan started on the hill for Berry. He tossed five innings, allowed six hits and three runs (two earned). He allowed two runs in the fifth inning and got no decision.

The game was tied 3-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning before the Vikings tallied the game's final two runs. Sam Joyce walked and scored on a sacrifice fly by Alfred FrancisAlex McGill later singled and scored when Kris Patel reached on a fielding error.

Emory & Henry dropped to 0-4. The Wasps outhit BC 9-8. Brett Johnson went 2-4 with a double to lead their offense.

The teams play a doubleheader at William R. Bowdoin Field on Saturday. First pitch of game one is 12 p.m.
