Salem State Sweeps Lakeland in Fort Myers

Fort Myers, Fla. -- The Vikings opened up their spring trip with a doubleheader sweep of Lakeland College. Reigning MASCAC Player of the Year Richard Fecteau began where he left off going a combined 4-for-6 (.666) with a home run and double with four RBI in the 11-4 and 6-5 victories over the Muskies. Mike Davis also contributed a double and two RBI in a 2-for-5 effort at the plate, while Andrew Deloury added three hits and Ryan Beliveau and Colton Fontaine two hits apiece. Teghan Malionek produced three RBI in his first start. Cato Lacroix picked up the win after allowing three hits and two runs in five innings pitched with two strikeouts.

Salem State earned a 6-5 win in game two with newcomer Jose Cedano collecting the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh. Cedano finished 2-for-3 with two runs batted in while Davis again collected two hits including a triple. Pete Gonski earned the victory with an inning and two thirds of work allowing just a hit after starter Sean Buckland was pulled after six and a third innings of work while allowing four earned runs with three strikeouts.
