Salem, Mass. -- Salem State defeated Gordon College 10-3 on Wednesday afternoon at the Central Campus Baseball Field.  Jason Vizena (Gloucester, MA) earned the win in relief, pitching three innings while allowing just a run on three hits with two strikeouts. The win improves the Vikings record to 8-5 while the Fighting Scots fall to 4-9 on the season.

Salem State starter Ryan Kelleher (Hanover, MA) came out in the fifth inning, having pitched four innings of three-hit ball without allowing a run. Kelleher struck out the side in the first while the Vikings' Richard Fecteau (Newbury, MA) hit an RBI single in the opening frame to give his team a 1-0 lead.  After hitting a double in the second, Jose Cedano(Lawrence, MA) came around to score on a balk to increase Salem State's lead to 2-0.

Gordon threated in the fourth, after loading the bases with one out. However, Fecteau made a fantastic diving stab of a line drive by Jesse Amaya (South Gate, CA) to preserve the lead as Salem State worked out of the inning without allowing a run.

Ryan Beliveau (Lynn, MA) gave the Vikings some breathing room with a two-run single in the fifth. The Fighting Scots got on the board in the sixth on a double-play, but George Tsonis (Peabody, MA) scored on a wild pitch to keep the Vikings lead at five runs.

Tristan Ryan (Orlando, FL) came on to pitch in the seventh for Gordon, and Salem State opened up the game, scoring four runs to take a 10-1 lead. Cedano smashed another hit for an RBI, and Tsonis and Andrew Deloury (Andover, MA) produced back-to-back run scoring singles. Kevin Carens (Northborough, MA) knocked in the final run with a sacrifice fly.

The Fighting Scots' starter Colin Strapp (Philadelphia, PA) took the loss after giving up six runs on 10 hits with four strikeouts in six innings of work.

Matt Moffat (Stratford, CT) plated two runs for the Fighting Scots in the ninth. Cedano finished 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Vikings while Addison Tarr (Oxnard, CA)  added a pair of hits for Gordon.
