DUDLEY, Mass. – Sophomore Benjamin Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) went 2-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored to help the Nichols College baseball team earn a split with Becker College in non-conference baseball action Wednesday afternoon. The Bison rebounded from a 5-1 loss in the opener to take game two, 14-2.

Sophomore Matt Hardy (North Attleboro, Mass.) and freshman Mike Piekarczyk (Dudley, Mass.) each drove in a pair of runs for the Bison (3-10), who pounded out 14 hits in their game two victory. Hardy, Piekarczyk, Harrow, and freshmen Cam Cook (Phoenixville, Pa.) and Brendan Martin (Nashua, N.H.) each recorded two hits for Nichols.

The Bison threw up a '3' spot in the first before pushing across seven in the second to build a 10-0 lead. Piekarczyk laced an RBI single in the first to go along with a pair of unearned runs. In the second, Piekarczyk, Harrow, and Cook each recorded an RBI as the Hawks (10-9) committed four errors.

Nichols manufactured four more runs in the fifth as Harrow belted a two-run double to center while both Hardy and freshman Spencer Madden (Nashua, N.H.) each plated a run with a double. Junior Ryan McLane (Wallingford, Conn.) went the distance for the win as he gave up six hits and two runs in six innings. Becker – which saw sophomore Trevor Read (Colorado Springs, Colo.) go 1-for-2 with an RBI – saw freshman Nicholas Hawrylciw (Amesbury, Mass.) surrender five hits and seven runs (five earned) in one inning of work to take the loss.

The Hawks struck first in the opener as senior Matthew Consigli (Whitinsville, Mass.) opened the game with a single and came around to score on a single off the bat of junior Sean Stone (Blackstone, Mass.). The Bison tied the game in the second as freshman Ross Caswell (Randolph, Vt.) plated Hardy with a double to right-center.

Becker moved in front for good in the sixth on a solo shot from Consigli over the left field wall. It tacked on three more in the seventh, one on an RBI bunt single from freshman Francis Baldino (East Brookfield, Mass.). Senior Brian Dowling (Naugatuck, Conn.) surrendered seven hits and one run in seven innings to move to 2-0 on the season. Freshman Kevin Kirley (Clinton, Mass.) took the loss as he gave up eight hits and five runs in 6.1 IP. He walked one and fanned four.
