Pinch-runner Jack Twitty of Rochester Hills, Michigan (Adams HS), scored a walkoff run for the Hope College baseball team as the Flying Dutchmen salvaged a doubleheader split with visiting Alma on Friday.

Hope won the second game 4-3 at Boeve Stadium with Twitty crossing the plate with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Alma took the opener 8-4.

The Flying Dutchmen (19-14 overall) remained in fourth place in the MIAA with a 12-10 league record. They lead Albion by two in the loss column and Trine by three.

In Game 2, Twitty entered the game after junior designated hitter Luke Brower of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), led off the seventh with a single. After a strikeout, Twitty advanced to third when the Scots misplayed a grounder hit by freshman first baseman Landon Brower of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS).

Following a groundout, Twitty scored an unearned, winning run when Alma could not handle Nick Glowacki's hit to third.

A RBI single from leftfielder Ryan Konkle of Marshall, Michigan (Marshall HS), answered a run from Alma in the top of the fifth and tied the score at 3-3.

Winning pitcher Matt Glowacki of Goodrich, Michigan (Goodrich HS), tossed 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to raise his record to 4-0.

In the opener, Alma (15-19, 6-16 MIAA) chased starting Currey Thomas of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS), in the fifth after scoring six runs on six hits.

The Flying Dutchmen received RBI singles from sophomore rightfielder JP Batts of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS), in the second, and from junior shortstop BradyVanderWeele of Kalamazoo, Michigan (Partchment HS), and senior second baseman Devin Schaefers of Lake Forest, California (El Toro HS), in the sixth.
