Thiel unable to come back against La Roche

GREENVILLE, Pa – Although the Thiel Tomcats outhit the La Roche Redhawks 11-8, they fell 6-4 in a non-conference game at Tomcat Park Tuesday afternoon. 

La Roche scored five of their six runs in the first three innings of the game. 

Cody Trinch opened scoring for the Tomcats in the bottom of the third on a triple to right center field that brought Bryan Mitchell to the plate. Josh Doody then scored Trinch with an infield single.

Trent Mosley led off the bottom of the fourth with a home run that sailed over the center field fence to get the Tomcats within two runs of the Redhawks, 5-3.

Conor Feikles followed Mosley with a home run of his own over the right field fence that pushed La Roche's lead back to three runs.

Austin Schwanke hit a RBI single up the middle that scored Mitchell from second base in the bottom of the seventh.

Trinch, Mitchell, Schwanke and Ryan Brumbaugh each had two hits while Mitchell scored twice.

The Tomcats (26-11) will resume Presidents' Athletic Conference play on the road Friday against the Saint Vincent Bearcats. The first pitch of the nine-inning game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
