#3 RAMAPO ADVANCES WITH 7-0 BLANKING OF PROFS

Mahwah, NJ: With a 7-0 victory over the #4 seeded Profs of Rowan University, the #3 seeded Ramapo College baseball team advances to play the #2 seeded Cougars of Kean University in the second round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. With the blanking, the Roadrunners improve to 26-12 overall behind a complete game pitching performance from senior Walker Larson. The Profs fall to 23-13.

Larson pitched the complete nine innings as he struck out five and let up eight hits in his eighth (8-1) win of the season. Joe Venturino hit 3-4 with two runs scored and Chris Wer went 2-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Scott Peschiani hit 3-5 with one run scored. Rob DeAngelis drove in two runs and Connor Walsh and Ryan Rinsky each scored a run of their own. The Roadrunners scattered ten hits collectively as a team in the win.

In the 2nd inning the Roadrunners got on the scoreboard first after Rafael DelaCruz drove in a run with a sac fly to center with the bases loaded. Werr scored on the play and Peschiani, Walsh and Rinsky crossed home plate later in the inning to give Ramapo a 4-0 lead after two innings of play.

In the bottom of the 3rd, Venturino scored after singling to get on base. A sac fly from Walsh drove in Venturino to put Ramapo ahead five runs to none. Venturino ripped a double to left field to lead off the 5th and he quickly came home on a single from Werr, before Werr came home on an error wrapping up the inning with a 7-0 lead over the Profs.

The score would hold until the final out as Rowan left 11 runners on base on the day. Ryan Easterday started the game for Rowan and gets the loss to fall to 4-3 on the year. He let up six runs and nine hits in five innings of work. Casey Grimes hit 2-3 for Rowan and Ryan Pavlik hit 2-5 in the loss.

Rowan will take on #1 seeded Scarlet Raptors on Friday, May 1st at 3:30pm at tournament host Kean University.
