FITCHBURG, Mass. – Sophomore Matt Hardy (North Attleboro, Mass.) drove in two runs and scored twice in Nichols College's 8-2 win over Fitchburg State Tuesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action at Riccards Field.

Sophomore Benjamin Harrow (North Reading, Mass.) and freshman Nick Osma (Babylon, N.Y.) each drove in a pair of runs as the Bison (9-19-1) won their fourth in a row for the first time since 2012. Freshman Zach Morgillo (Hamden, Conn.) went the distance on the bump to earn his second win of the season as he scattered eight hits and surrendered two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.

Nichols scored twice in the second to grab an early lead. Hardy opened the scoring with a double to right-center that brought in freshman Mike Piekarczyk (Dudley, Mass.) before Cam Cook (Phoenixville, Pa.) plated Hardy with an infield single.

After the Falcons (12-18) got one back in the fourth, Cook's RBI single in the sixth scored Hardy and made it 3-1. The Bison tacked on three in the seventh behind a two-run triple off the bat of Osma and a run-scoring single from Hardy. Harrow's two-run double in the eighth plated Cook and sophomore Tim Ford (Stafford Springs, Conn.) to extend the NC lead to 8-1. Fitchburg State manufactured one in the ninth to close the scoring.

Sophomore Steve Martel (East Hartford, Conn.) went 3-for-4 with an RBI for Fitchburg State. Junior Donnell Hightower (Dorchester, Mass.) took the loss after allowing four hits and two runs in 1.1 innings of work.

The Bison close their season with a 7:00 p.m. contest against Framingham State Wednesday in Northborough, Mass.
