ST. MARY'S, Md. – Junior Nick Maiolo (Powhatan, Va./Powhatan) delivered a two-run single in the top of the ninth to erase a 4-3 deficit and lift the 23rd-ranked Randolph-Macon baseball team to a 5-4 victory at St. Mary's Wednesday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets (25-9) tied the program record with 25 victories.

Freshman Rick Spiers (South Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) struck out to lead off the top of the ninth, but reached on a passed ball. Spiers stole second and moved to third on a base hit by senior Nate Meiners (Silver Spring, Va./St. John's Prep). Meiners stole second, his fifth stolen base of the game. It gave him 21 steals on the season, a program record. Maiolo singled up the middle to plate Spiers and Meiners, giving R-MC a 5-4 advantage.

Senior J.T. Williamson (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) took over on the mound in the bottom of the ninth. The Seahawks (8-21) had a leadoff single, but that runner was thrown out at third on a second base hit. A third single put runners on the corners. A fly out to shallow left and a foul out to first ended the contest and give Williamson his seventh save.

Meiners went 3 for 3 with two walks and three runs. Freshman Cole Migliorini (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) had two hits and two RBI, including a run-scoring single in the first and an RBI triple in the third for the Yellow Jackets.

Tanner Phillips (3-0) pitched a hitless, scoreless eighth to earn the victory for R-MC.

Randolph-Macon will conclude the regular season on Saturday, May 2 at 1 p.m. for a Senior Day doubleheader against York.
