Belton, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team battled back from a 3-0 first inning deficit with a fourth-run eighth as the Cru topped Trinity University 7-4 Tuesday night in Belton. UMHB improves to 2-4 on the year with its second straight win. The loss drops the Tigers to 2-2 on the year.

Connor Moore led off the game with a home run for the Tigers and Trinity added two more first inning runs for a 3-0 lead. An RBI fielder's choice made it 4-0 Trinity in the top of the second before the Cru settled down. Seth Martin scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the fourth to cut it to 4-1 and tripled to lead off the bottom of the sixth. Riley Davis doubled home Martin and came around to score on Chase Burrow's groundout to cut it to 4-3 after six innings. It would stay that way into the bottom of the eighth. UMHB loaded the bases on three infield singles before Burrow roped a double down the leftfield line to score all three runners and give UMHB a 6-4 lead. Burrow scored an insurance run on Will Stafford's sacrifice fly. Trinity put two runners on in the top of the ninth before Seth Hill set down the final two hitters to close out the win.

Hill earned the victory to move to 1-0 with two and two-thirds innings of two-hit relief. Ryan Gray (0-2) took the loss for Trinity after being charged with all four runs in the eighth inning. Burrow drove in four runs for UMHB and Davis and Scott Stephens had three hits apiece. Moore had two of Trinity's nine hits in the game.

The Cru will have six days off before its next game. UMHB returns to action with a non-conference game at Texas Lutheran next Monday night in Seguin. The Cru will then opened American Southwest Conference play with a three-game series at U.T.-Tyler the following Friday and Saturday.
