WINTER HAVEN, FLA. – The William Paterson baseball team (9-6) ended its Spring Break trip with 13-3 loss against UMass Dartmouth (4-4) March 19 at the Central Florida Invitational. The game was called due to inclement weather with only eight innings completed.

The Corsairs took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with a hit by pitch, stolen base, passed ball and two-out error. A leadoff Jack Harrington home run made it a 2-0 score after two innings.

The Pioneers got one run back during the top of the third when senior shortstop Victor Sanchez (Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland) started the frame with a single to right center, was sacrificed to second by senior left fielder Tyler Garguilo (Paramus, N.J./Paramus), moved to third on a groundout and scored thanks to a wild pitch.

UMass Dartmouth jumped ahead by a 6-1 count in the bottom of the third inning, stringing together a single, hit by pitch, two-run double, walk, error and two-run single.

Senior right fielder Jimmy Kenny (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex Regional) reached base on a leadoff error in the fourth, and junior catcher Eriq Colon (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) followed with a home run to left.

A pair of base hits gave the Corsairs one fourth-inning run, and sophomore second baseman Josh O'Neill started the sixth with a base hit, stole second, advanced to third via a groundout and scored on a sacrifice fly.

A base on balls, error, sac fly and RBI-single made it a 10-3 margin after seven, and a walk, double and homer pushed it to a 13-3 edge in the eighth.

Colon was 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and a run scored.
