Oxy Win Streak Snapped at 13

LOS ANGELES — The Occidental baseball team had its 13-game winning streak snapped with an 11-1 loss to Redlands at Anderson Field on Friday.

The Tigers rattled off four consecutive three-game sweeps over Caltech, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Whittier and Rutgers-Newark, and a win in Game 3 against Chapman during the streak that dates back to Feb. 20.

Season Impact: The Tigers fall into a tie for first with Redlands at 10-3 in SCIAC.

Oxy is No. 22 in the country and 15-6 overall.

Redlands improves to 17-6 overall.

Oxy starter Nolan Watson pitched six innings, giving up four earned runs, in a losing effort.

Felix Minjarez earned the victory for the Bulldogs, giving up just one run and three hits, with six strike outs, in seven innings of work.

Oxy scored its only run in the bottom of the seventh when Reid Gibbs singled up the middle, scoringGraham Pimm.

Pimm finished 2 for 4 with a stolen base to go along with the run scored. 

The Tigers gave up one run in the first inning, two more in the third and were in it until Redlands scored eight runs from the sixth inning on. 

Mark Tumlinson was a terror for Redlands, going 3 for 5 with 5 RBIs, a home run and two doubles.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action at Redlands on Saturday for a doubleheader. Game 1 begins at 11 a.m.
