HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 26, 2016) – The Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team pounded out 15 hits en route to a 12-3 victory over SUNY-Canton in the finale of a three game series Saturday.

The Ducks swept the three game series and moved to 10-8 overall, while Canton fell to 4-12. Stevens went to 3-0 in the Empire 8 Conference, while Canton is 0-3.

The Kangaroos struck first in their first at bat, as Wilson Matos drilled a solo home run to right field. The Ducks answered back with four in the home half, on only one hit. Senior Jayson Yano walked, and swiped second and third and got knocked in by junior Garrett Wells.

The next three batters were hit by a pitch, with classmate P.J. Wiegartner getting the RBI. Junior Michael Mule' lofted a sacrifice fly and senior Nick Sieber stole home to account for the four runs. Canton cut the deficit in half on a run-scoring fielder's choice. Wells and Sieber had RBI hits in the bottom of the second, and freshman Carlos Leon scored on a wild pitch.

Yano, who had walked in his previous two at bats, knocked home two runs with an RBI single to center field. Freshman Matthew Pasko collected his first collegiate hit and came around on the Yano single. Wiegartner doubled in a run in the fourth and Mule' had a single that scored a run to go up 11-2 after just four innings of play.

Travis Schindler hit a home run to open the fifth inning, but Sieber responded with his second home run in the bottom of the sixth to cap the scoring for the Ducks.

Yano went 2-for-2 with three walks and three stolen bases, while Sieber touched home three times. Senior Greg Jakusik tossed five innings to earn the win, striking out eight while allowing just two runs. The bullpen of freshman Charlie Reugger, sophomore Quinn DiPasquale and freshman Danny Poidomani allowed just one hit over four innings of relief combining for five strikeouts.

Dan Coant started for Canton, allowing seven earned runs in an inning and a third, hitting three batters and walking two.

The Ducks will travel to take on No. 19/15 Rutgers University-Camden on Monday at 3:30 p.m.
