UTICA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College baseball team avoided an Empire 8 Conference sweep at Utica College with a 20-6 victory on Sunday. Ithaca pounded out 19 hits, including seven for extra bases as the Bombers improved to 14-12 on the seasons and 6-3 in the Empire 8.

The Bombers have now scored 20 or more runs for the second time this season. The last time Ithaca plated 20-plus runs twice took place in 2005 when the Bombers notched 37 runs against Cazenovia and 20 versus Montclair State.

Ithaca's 7-8-9 hitters, freshman Webb Little, sophomore Domenic Boresta and senior Zach Cole combined to go 10-for-16 at the plate with 12 RBI, eight runs scored, four doubles and two triples.

W. Little was a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs scored, three RBI and two doubles. Boresta hit a double and triple in four at bats with four RBI, three runs and two walks. Cole drove in a team-high five RBI on three hits (two doubles) with a run scored.

Junior Ryan Henchey hit a home run in a 1-for-3 afternoon with three RBI. Fellow junior Brennan McCormack was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while freshmen Matt Carey and Sam Little both tallied three runs. Junior Trevor Thompson scored twice and stole a base with one hit.

Senior John Prendergast earned the victory in five innings pitched. Prendergast allowed four runs on nine hits with three strikeouts. Freshman Andrew Bailey tossed three innings of relief and gave up two runs on four hits with a pair of strikeouts. Junior Logan Barer threw the final inning in the game and walked one.

The Bombers return home on April 19 for a non-conference game against New Paltz at 4 p.m. Ithaca will then play at Elmira on the 20th before coming back to Freeman Field for three games against Houghton on the 22nd and 23rd. The doubleheader on Saturday is Senior Day.
