Potter Becomes All-Time Leader In WIns As Fisher Records 30th Victory

It was a record-setting night on Saturday for the St. John Fisher College baseball program.   In the Cardinals' 9-3 win over host Utica College, seventh-year head coach Brandon Potter recorded his 201st career win, making him the program's all-time leader in victories.  The win was also Fisher's 30th victory of the year, marking the first time in the program's 29-year history that the Cardinals have reach the 30-win plateau in the regular season.

Potter passes former head coach Dan Pepicelli, who won 200 games in his nine-year career at Fisher.

Fisher (30-8 overall, 16-1 Empire 8) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but Utica answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead.  Fisher scored three runs in the top of the second inning to take the lead for good and held the Pioneers scoreless for the final eight innings.

Senior Mike Roman finished with two hits, two runs and two RBI, while classmate Joe Simmons scored two runs, stole two bases and added two hits.

Cody Wiktorski scored twice, while Nate Roethel finished with two hits.,   Scott Eisenmenger went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.  Victor Konstantinovsky finished 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Terry Engels struck out seven and earned the win, while pitching six innings.  DJ Mendenhall, Kevin Berge and Ryan Felske each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

Fisher host Ithaca College at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
