Union, N.J. (2/19/17)Matt Krupa was 3-for-4 and Ivan Rivera drove in two as the Kean University baseball team picked up their third straight win in a 9-3 victory over the College at Brockport.

Southpaw Richie Ferguson (1-0) earned the win after allowing six hits in seven innings with no earned runs.

The #15/19 Cougars put up a four spot in the second as Krupa and junior Frank Urso set up the inning with a single and double.  Rookie Nick Polizzano walked to load the bases with no outs.  Later with one out, sophomore Brian Cole singled home Krupa and teammate John Carello followed with an RBI groundout for a 2-0 lead.  Sophomore Ivan Rivera rounded out the scoring with a two RBI single in the gap.

Brockport (1-1), playing in their second game of the day, cut the deficit in half in their next at-bat with a sacrifice fly from Paul Ludden and an RBI single from Matt Van Allen on an inning that was prolonged by two Cougar miscues.

Kean got those runs back in their half of the fourth as Carello lofted a sac fly and senior Brock Podgurski later drew a bases loaded walk.

The Cougars put the game out of reach with a three run sixth frame that saw five hits, including an RBI double from Krupa, an RBI single from Urso and an RBI single from Polizzano.

Rivera, Urso, Polizzano and Cole all had multi-hit days for the Cougars while Avery Brooks picked up two hits for the Golden Eagles (1-1) in the loss.

The Cougars return to action on Friday when they host SUNY College at Old Westbury.
