Union, N.J. (2/23/17) – Junior Frank Urso was 3-for-5 with three runs scored to pace the Kean University baseball team in a 10-5 win over DeSales University on Thursday afternoon in a gorgeous May-like day.

The #15/19 Cougars improve to 4-0 on the young season while the Bulldogs fall to 1-4 this spring.

DeSales jumped on top first with a single run in the second inning aided by three walks.  With the bases loaded and two outs, Tommy DePaul hit a hard single in the hole that was cut down by Matt Krupa but gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

Kean responded and quickly erased the deficit with two hits to lead off the inning with a single from Urso and a double from Nick Polizzano.  Catcher Brian Cole knotted the game at one-all with an RBI single.  Rookie Mike Fidanza gave the Cougars the lead with an RBI groundout.

The Bulldogs regained the lead with a two spot to start the fifth inning that chased starter Frank LoGuidice.  DePaul delivered the big blow with an RBI triple that tied the score.  Tyler Sweeney lofted a sac fly for the 3-2 advantage.

The game was then blown wide open by the Cougars with six runs in the same inning.  In the deciding fifth Kean received RBI from Urso (single), Polizzano (single), Cole (walk), John Carello (single) and Ivan Rivera (two RBI single).

Reliever Justin Hernandez earned the win after tossing two innings, allowing three hits and one run.  Austin Arndt picked up the save with a three inning performance and four strikeouts.

Offensively, Rivera was 2-for-4 with two RBI while Cole collected two RBI on the day.

For the Bulldogs, DePaul was 3-for-3 with two RBI in the leadoff position while Preston Amato was 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
