Baruch Competes Against William Paterson at MCU Park

The Baruch College Bearcats lost 14-2 to the Pioneers of William Paterson University in a non-conference contest played on a windy Thursday afternoon at MCU Park on Coney Island.

The Bearcats scored their two runs in the sixth inning. Edwin St. Hilaire smacked an RBI double to left center to plate Donovan Hunt. The second run scored soon after on a throwing error by the shortstop to bring home Jasdeep Buttar

Hilaire finished the game batting 2-for-4 to lead the Bearcats. Gilberto Mendoza, Jr. recorded two stolen bases.

The visiting Pioneers scored in every inning to finish with a score line of 14 runs, 16 hits and one error to record their second win of the season. Eriq Colon led the visitors from Wayne, New Jersey batting 2-for-4 with two homers, two runs scored and five total RBI.

The Bearcats were scheduled next to play SUNY-Brockport in a neutral site game in Fishkill, New York at Dutchess Stadium on Saturday morning, but it was cancelled due to the forecast for severe cold.

The Bearcats will resume their schedule with their trip next week to Fort Myers, Florida. The team will start play at the Gene Cusic Classic on Wednesday, March 8, with 12 p.m. single contest against Swarthmore College at Player Development Complex 2.
