AUBURNDALE, FL - The Benedictine University baseball team evened their record on the spring break trip in Florida by pressing past Hope College.

THE DETAILS
Benedictine built an early lead and held on for the victory to break a three-game skid
Benedictine set the tone with three runs in the top of the first
Nick Severino led off the game with a single on the first pitch and Jimmy McLaughlin, moved up in the order, followed suit
Chayancze Stirbis was hit by a pitch to load the bases
Erik Callaghan and Andrew Hotze logged RBI singles around a sacrifice fly from Tanner Kiser to account for the early outburst
Jack Feeley opened the second with a triple and came around on a groundout from McLaughlin to push the lead to 4-0
The lead seemed enough for Frank Greco, who improved to 3-0 on the year by working five innings
Hope notched single runs in the fourth and seventh to pull within 4-2 before two more runs scored in the top of the ninth
Hotze and Sam Kerr singled home runs in the ninth
Hope (7-3) scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the ninth before Marty Maves was able to finish out the decision

Benedictine amassed 12 hits in the victory
McLaughlin, Stirbis, Callaghan and Hotze each picked up a pair of hits
Hotze finished with two RBIs
Eight of the nine batters in the lineup logged at least one hit
Greco (3-0) followed up a complete game shutout in his first Florida start with a two-hit showing, allowing just one run with two walks and two strikeouts
Will Diessner worked 1.2 frames with Drake Berman notching 1.1 scoreless
