GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Junior Chuck Probst blasted a pair of grand slams while senior Rich Power twirled a four-hit, nine-inning shutout as the Gettysburg College baseball team ran its winning streak to seven with an 11-0 non-conference victory over Penn State York Thursday afternoon at Kirchhoff Field.

Freshman Joe Giovinco added a 3-for-4 performance at the plate while classmate Tyler Mitchell scored three runs for the Bullets (8-6-1), who have outscored their opponents 66-10 during their current win streak.

Probst - Gettysburg's leadoff hitter - cleared the bases in both the second and fourth innings while tying both the Centennial Conference and NCAA Division III records for grand slams in a game. The only other player in conference history to achieve the feat was Paul Winterling of Johns Hopkins on April 14, 2003 versus Washington College. Probst also became just the 12th player in Division III history to hit two grand slams in a game and is the first since Mike Cohan of DeSales on May 1, 2004 versus Scranton.

Probst, who drove in eight runs, also tied Gettysburg records for both home runs and RBIs in a game. The RBI record was first set by Art Hendley '57 on May 19, 1956 versus Albright and tied by Toby Miller '94 on April 15, 1994 at Dickinson. He is one of a number of Bullets to homer twice in a game and the second in as many years, as senior Will Anderson went deep twice in a win over Merchant Marine in Florida on March 12 of last season.

In the second inning, Probst lined a 3-1 pitch down the leftfield line to put the Bullets up 4-0. Then in the fourth, he blasted an 0-1 pitch over the 375 sign in left-center to double Gettysburg's lead, chasing Lion starter Kent Walker.

Probst stepped to the plate with a runner on second in the bottom of the sixth, but had the bat taken out of his hands when he was issued an intentional walk. But Giovinco would make the Lions pay with a RBI-single. Gettysburg would tack on single runs in the seventh and eighth.

It was more than an enough offense for Power (2-1), who fired his third career shutout but his first that went nine innings. He did now allow a runner to reach third the entire game.

Power yielded a single in each of the first three innings but was dominant the rest of the way, as just two batters reached base over the last six innings. A runner reached on an error in the fourth but was thrown out by Anderson to end the inning. Power then retired the 10 batters in a row, including fanning the side in the seventh. The Lions singled in the eighth, but Power set down the final five batters of the game.

It was the second nine-inning shutout in as many days for the Bullets, as senior Chase Stopyra spun a three-hitter in Gettysburg's 10-0 win over Penn State Altoona on Wednesday.
