HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. - Junior Cole Migliorini (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) had two hits and one RBI as the 12th-ranked Randolph-Macon baseball team fell 2-1 at Hampden-Sydney in ODAC action Thursday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets (16-6, 6-2 ODAC) had a two-out rally in the top of the first. Junior Rick Spiers (South Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) drew a two-out walk, stole second, and scored on a base hit to left by Migliorini to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

The Tigers (14-10, 3-3 ODAC) threatened in the bottom of the frame. Back-to-back singles started the inning before a popout on a bunt attempt became the first out. Following a walk to load the bases, a 6-4-3 double play ended the threat.

R-MC put its leadoff hitter on four times in the first eight innings, but could not bring him in.

H-SC tied the game with a run in the fifth and plated the go-ahead run in the eighth on a wild pitch.

Freshman Michael Zubovich (Chantilly, Va./Freedom) was the starter on the mound for the Yellow Jackets, going 5.0 innings with four hits, one run and two walks.

R-MC was held to its lowest run total of the season. The Yellow Jackets stranded nine, including five in scoring position.

Randolph-Macon will host Washington & Lee in an ODAC doubleheader on Saturday, April 1 at noon.
