Ryan Warner pitched a complete game and Matthew Donofrio batted 3-for-5 with two RBI to record a 4-3 win against the Bears of St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn on Thursday afternoon at MCU Park on Coney Island.

The Bearcats broke open a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning with three runs on six hits.

Despite a late rally by the Bears, the Bearcats held on for the one-run win.

The visitors scored in the first inning via a fielder's choice RBI, but a Donofrio RBI single in the third plated Angel Acevedo for the tie.

They took control in the sixth with an RBI double by Acevedo, an RBI single by Raymond Mauer
and a Donofrio RBI double to go ahead 4-1.

The Bears from the Skyline Conference did not go quietly and managed to cut the score to 4-3, but Warner (9 IP, 9 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7K) ended the game with a strikeout looking to improve to 2-0 on the mound.

The baseball team will return to action on Sunday, April 2, with a (rescheduled) 12:00 p.m. single game contest at New Jersey City University. The two teams were originally scheduled to play this past Tuesday, March 28, but it was rained out.
