WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 1/5 Shenandoah University baseball ran its winning streak to nine Saturday by sweeping an ODAC doubleheader from Guilford College.

Shenandoah (21-1, 7-1 ODAC) was a 1-0 winner in 10 innings in the opener before taking the nightcap 2-1 over the Quakers (14-14, 1-8).

In the opener, GC pitcher Eric Yost (2-5) was outstanding, holding SU to just four hits while striking out two and walking three.

In the 10th, Yost gave up two of those hits to lose in walkoff fashion.

Shortstop Nick Goode led off the frame with a single to center and then was sacrificed to second. First baseman Luke Nussman, facing a lefty-lefty matchup, pulled a single down the first base line that allowed Goode to advance the final 180 feet and score the game's lone run.

The 10th inning heroics made a winner of senior Tyler Hott (2-0). Hott, the fourth SU pitcher of the game, got the final two outs in the top of the 10th to earn the win.

Freshman Gerard DePhillips pitched the initial 8 2/3 and scattered 10 hits and one walk. He struck out four and benefitted from three double plays.

Goode finished the game 2-for-4 with Dan Cameron getting the squad's other hit. Nussman's hit was in his only at-bat as he entered the game as a defensive replacement in the ninth.

The two teams traded single runs in the first inning of game two before Shenandoah scored the game-winner in the sixth.

Tristan Baker led off with a single to center and advanced to third on an errant pickoff throw by GC starter John Todd (4-3). Abel Arocho then lofted a sacrifice fly to short center that was just deep enough to score Baker from third.

Two batters later, Jake Loew had a double to left that made Baker's run earned.

Colin Morse (5-0) pitched the first eight innings, allowing an unearned run on seven hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Hott (Sv, 5) pitched the ninth and worked around his own error to start the frame and close out the win.

Baker, Arocho and Nussman all had two hits in the nightcap.

Shenandoah steps out-of-conference Sunday for a 1 p.m. game at Gallaudet.
