MILWAUKEE, WI - The Benedictine University baseball team opened conference play with a split at MSOE.

THE DETAILS
Frank Greco bettered MSOE's ace by striking out nine in 5.1 innings to improve to 4-0 in as many starts in the opener
MSOE left the bases loaded in the bottom of the first
Tanner Kiser homered to lead off the top of the second, giving Benedictine the lead
Andrew Hotze and Dom DeMicco followed with singles before a one-out sacrifice fly from Sam Kerr stretched the edge
MSOE pulled within a run in the fifth
Erik Callaghan drilled a two-run homer in the seventh and DeMicco homered with one away in the ninth
The final run scored on a squeeze from D.J. Dillon
Both teams traded blows in the second contest before MSOE won on a leadoff walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth
Jimmy McLaughlin led off the game with a double and scored on a single from Kerr as Benedictine jumped ahead
Hotze also logged an RBI single in the frame
Two runs in the second allowed MSOE to open a 3-2 edge
Hotze drilled a two-run homer in the third to put Benedictine ahead again
Three fifth inning tallies enabled MSOE to lead briefly before another three-run outburst from Benedictine in the sixth
Callaghan homered as part of the inning
The hosts instantly took the lead with three in the bottom of the inning
DeMicco singled home Chayancze Stirbis with the tying run in the seventh before the heroics

Will Diessner, Jacob Trumpis and Marty Maves combined to throw the final 4.2 innings of the opener without allowing a run
Six individuals posted hits with Hotze and DeMicco picking up two apiece as Benedictine notched eight in the first game
Hotze and Callaghan each scored twice while Callaghan added a pair of RBIs
Benedictine ripped out a season high 17 hits in the second contest
Ivan Guzman started and worked 4.2 innings but Kamren Ackerman took the loss
Eight individuals picked up hits in the second game with six notching multi-hit performances
Kerr, Hotze and Nick Severino logged three hits each
