Hartford, Conn.- Sophomore southpaw Erik Mohl (Milton, Mass.) pitched a complete game, scattering 10 hits and walking two with two strikeouts, to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 6-3 victory over the visiting Colby College Mules in NESCAC East Division baseball action this afternoon at Murren Family Field at DiBenedetto Stadium.  Trinity improves to 10-8 overall and evens its division mark at 2-2, while Colby drops to 3-12 overall and 0-4 in the NESCAC with its eigth setback in a row.  Mohl improves to 6-0 despite just his second start of the spring this afternoon.  The teams will complete the three-game set tomorrow with a noon doubleheader.

Trinity led wire-to-wire, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning.  Junior co-captain OF Brendan Pierce (Hingham, Mass.) tripled home rookie OF Matt Koperniak (Adams, Mass.) for the first run, and scored on a Mule error.  Bantam junior DH Christan Orsini (Livingston, N.J.) delivered a two-out, RBI single for the third run.  Both teams scored once in the second inning, and Colby added another run in the third on a leadoff triple by sophomore OF Ryan Quinn (Lagrangeville, N.Y.) and an RBI groundout by junior Matt Treveloni (Ashland, Mass.).  

Colby cut its deficit to one at 4-3 in the top of the fifth frame with three consecutive singles including the last by senior OF Ryder Arsenault (New Hampton, N.H.) to drive home Treveloni.  The runners advanced on a ground ball to put the game-winning run on second base with two away, but Mohl got the final out on a fly ball to center field.  The Mules could not push a runner past first base over the final four innings, and the Bantam added insurance run in the sixth on an Alex Rodriguez (South Windsor, Conn.) stolen base and an overthrow at third and another in the seventh on a two-out, run-scoring single by junior 2B Cooper Mooney (Southbury, Conn.).

Mooney and Rodriguez were both 2-for-4 at the plate for Trinity, while Pierce finished 1-for-3 with tw runs, an RBI, a triple, two walks, and a stolen base, and Koperniak was 1-for-3 with a run anf three of Trinity's six steals.  Treveloni paced the Colby offense with three hits, while sophomore RHP Brooks Parker (Weston, Mass.) fell to 0-3, allowing nine hits and six runs, two earned runs, and three walks with three K's over six-plus innings.  Trinity did not commit an error and Colby had three fielding miscues.
