No. 1 Shenandoah Sweeps Emory & Henry

EMORY, Va. – No. 1/1 Shenandoah University baseball earned its third straight ODAC weekend sweep with 9-4 and 10-2 victories at Emory and Henry Saturday afternoon.

Shenandoah (24-2, 9-2 ODAC) banged out a combined 30 hits in the sweep over the Wasps (15-17, 5-7).

In game one, Gerard DePhillips (6-0) scattered five hits and two unearned runs over 8.0 innings with the offense getting the initial 13 of those 30 hits.

DePhillips struck out four and walked one before turning it over to Tyler Hott for the ninth.

Jake Loew finished 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI on a double in the first, a two-run single in the fourth and a solo HR in the ninth.

Luke Nussman had three hits with Nick Goode and Neil Dutton getting two each and all three men driving in one run.

Dutton's RBI came on a solo home run in the ninth.

In the nightcap, Colin Morse (6-0) matched DePhillips, pitching 8.0 innings and allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out six.

Brian Roden and Matt Burns split the ninth inning with Burns closing the door on a pop out and a fly out.

Goode, Dan Cameron and Tristan Baker had four hits each with Goode driving in four and both Nussman and Denzel Johnson two each.

Shenandoah held a 4-2 lead in game two before exploding for six runs on five hits and two Wasps errors in the ninth.

Nussman was 2-for-5 in game two to finish a combined 5-for-10 for the day. Cameron was 6-for-8 in the sweep, Goode 6-for-9 and Baker 5-for-10.

Shenandoah hosts Bridgewater on Tuesday in a 4:00 ODAC contest.
