Baruch Explodes in Seventh Inning to Defeat Lehman (15-10) in High-Scoring Affair

Gilberto Mendoza, Jr.batted 3-5 with four RBI and two doubles as the Bearcats hit their way to a 15-10 victory at Lehman College on Saturday afternoon. Matthew Faziopitched the last four innings, throwing five strikeouts.

Ramon Moreta and Matthew Donofriohome for the first two runs of the game.

Lehman's Carlo Francisco responded during the bottom of the first inning with a homer to center field with two men on base to jump ahead, 3-2.

The game was a back and forth contest until the top of the seventh inning with Lehman leading, 9-7.


Raymond Maurer started the late surge that would energize the Bearcats to score six runs in the top of that inning. Edwin St. Hilairecontributed with a single that would result in two runs. Mendoza Jr. ended the top of the seventh with two RBI.

Maurer finished the game batting a career-high 4-for-6 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Francisco led the hosts batting 3-for-5 with five RBI and two homers.

The Bearcats improve to an overall record of 7-10.

The team will next host will host the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) in a doubleheader tomorrow, Sunday, April 9, at 12:00 p.m. Please note the doubleheader will now be played at Kingsborough Community College baseball field in Brooklyn, New York.
