BOLIVAR, N.Y. – Senior Rob LaRue (Skillman, N.J. / Montgomery) tied the NCAA Division III record with five doubles in a game for Keuka College as the Wolves split a non-conference doubleheader against Alfred State College on Sunday. The Wolves won the first game 22-1 but fell in the nightcap 7-1.
Due to the spring weather and field conditions, the games were played at Bolivar-Richburg High School's turf field.
Game 1 was all about Rob LaRue for Keuka College (6-8, 2-0 NEAC). The senior went 6-6 at the plate with a school record five doubles in the game. His five doubles also ties an NCAA Division III record. It was just the fourth time in Division III history that someone has hit five doubles in a game. LaRue scored three runs and drove in four for the Wolves. Dakota Skinner (Waverly, N.Y. / Tioga) and Alec Bowie (Sparta, N.J. / Sparta) each added three hits, two runs scored, and three driven in for the Green and Gold in the win. Two of Bowie's hits were triples. Ryan Lawrence (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) earned the win on the mound for Keuka.
In Game 2, Jake Redding (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) had three hits and Dakota Skinner added a pair for the Wolves.
Keuka College 22 vs. Alfred State 1
Keuka College relied on the big inning to defeat the Pioneers on Sunday. The Wolves got on the board first with a seven-run inning second inning. Rob LaRue had a pair of doubles in the inning. His first led off the second and his second drove in a pair of runs. After Alfred State scored a run in the bottom of the frame, Keuka College pushed the lead to 13-1 with a six-run third. Rob LaRue had an RBI double in the inning for Keuka and Alec Bowie hit a two-run triple. The Green and Gold added six more in the fifth. Featured in the inning was back-to-back triples by Brooks Vertoske (Horseheads, N.Y. / Horseheads) and Alec Bowie. The Wolves added runs late for the 22-1 victory.
Lead Wolf: Rob LaRue's six hits ties a school record for hits in a game. He will sit atop the record book with his five doubles against the Pioneers. LaRue hit eight doubles in the first 81 games of his career.
Keuka College 1 vs. Alfred State 7
Keuka College scored the opening run of the game as Dave Nuzzo (Manlius, N.Y. / Fayetteville-Manlius) hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning. The Pioneers used the long ball in the fourth. They hit a two-run home run and a three-run home run in the inning to take a 5-1 lead. Alfred State added an insurance run in the fifth and sixth on their way to the 7-1 victory over Keuka College, splitting the doubleheader.
Lead Wolves: The top of the order did the damage for Keuka College in Game 2. Leadoff hitter Jake Redding went 3-4 and Dakota Skinner, second in the batting order, went 2-3. Those two batters accounted for all five hits for the Wolves in the game.

- Keuka College holds a 6-4 advantage in the series with Alfred State College since the Pioneers transitioned to a four-year school
- Alec Bowie tied the school record with two triples in a game. He became the seventh player in program history to do so
- Rob LaRue set a new school record with 11 total bases in a game
- The 22 runs scored by the Wolves was the most in a game since 2014 when Keuka College defeated Penn St.-Abington 22-8
Coming up for Keuka College: The Wolves will look to play their first home games of the season on Kuhl Field on Monday as Keuka College hosts Medaille College in a doubleheader. The Wolves hold the all-time series against the Mavericks 14-7.
