Baruch Takes Two From Lehman in CUNYAC Doubleheader (7-6, 5-3)

The Baruch College Bearcats swept a CUNYAC doubleheader against Lehman College on Friday afternoon at Westchester Community College Baseball Complex in Valhalla, New York.
 
During the first game, the Bearcats fell behind two runs before exploding in the bottom of the fourth. A seven-run inning was sparked thanks to several errors by Lehman and multiple timely singles by
Jasdeep Buttar, Raymond Maurer , Matthew Donofrio, and Dan Daley.
 
Lehman would come back with a four-run inning in the top of the fifth to be down one run (7-6), but the Bearcats were able to seal the victory in the end.
Matthew Fazio claimed the complete game win after pitching seven innings and recording nine strikeouts. Daley finished with two hits and two RBI, while Buttar had two hits and Maurer two RBI.
 
The Bearcats were able to keep a lead for much of the second game after surrendering a run in the first inning. They battled back with a two-run inning off of Jasdeep Buttar's RBI double to left field, allowing
Donovan Hunt to score and Daley's RBI single to plate Buttar.

Buttar would later score again in the bottom of the third on an
Edwin St. Hilaire RBI fielder's choice to put them up, 3-1.
 
Lehman would come back again to cut the score to 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, but the Bearcats were able to put the game away with two more runs courtesy of RBI singles by
Robert McMahon and Ruddy Perez.
 

Paul Sirakowski gets the complete game win after pitching seven innings with a career-high 13 strikeouts. Buttar finished another great game with three hits, two runs, and one RBI.
 
The baseball team will resume action on Monday, April 16, with a 3:30 pm rescheduled contest at Rutgers University-Newark. First pitch at Newark Bears Stadium is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. The two teams were originally scheduled to play on March 23, but it was rained out.
