Longview, Texas – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor baseball team put together two dominating pitching performances and got more than enough offense to roll to a doubleheader sweep of LeTourneau University Friday in Longview. The Cru posted wins of 12-0 and 11-0 to improve to 18-14 overall and 12-6 in American Southwest Conference play on the season.

UMHB dominated the final innings on the way to a 12-0 win in game one. The Cru scored the game's first run on a double play in the top of the third inning and Ty Johnson added an RBI double in that same inning. Austin Blanford scored on a wild pitch before Landon Dieterich doubled home three runs and scored on Johnson's single to make it 7-0 UMHB in the top of the fourth. A run-scoring error made it 8-0 in the top of the fifth and the Cru added two more runs in the top of the sixth on run scoring singles from Kenny Foster and Emery Atkisson. Foster added another RBI single and Mark Frankhouser had a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh to close out the scoring. Casey Frazier struck out six and walked one in five shutout innings to move to 3-0 on the year. Three UMHB pitchers combined to limit the Yellowjackets to one hit. Blanford and Johnson had three hits apiece to pace the Cru's 11-hit attack in the victory.

UMHB used the same recipe to post an 11-0 win in game two on the run rule. The Cru put up two runs in the top of the second on RBI singles from Blanford and Foster. Johnson's two-run homer highlighted a five-run sixth inning and UMHB closed it out with four more runs in the top of the eighth. Josh Horton blasted his first UMHB home run and Johnson added a two-run single. Evan Samoff picked up the win to move to 2-4 on the year. Johnson, Blanford and Dakota Best all had two hits for the Cru in the victory.

UMHB returns to action with a non-conference game at Texas Lutheran University Tuesday night in Seguin. The Cru will then close out its regular season home schedule with a three-game series against U.T. Dallas next weekend at Red Murff Field.
